A little heritage

Hi there,

Well, the holidays are over and its back to work tomorrow. A part of me is feeling flat at the prospect but in the scheme of things I need to remember there would be many people who love a job and can't find one so I must not complain. I am lucky that I do love what I do and get to be quite creative in how I run my classroom. Better than many jobs out there.

Today I had just enough time to finish a quick challenge piece for 'Scrap with attitude'.
this month it is a heritage piece. I can't really believe I have done two challenges in the same month and got them finished in time to lodge. Very proud of me!

The photo is of my step-grandmother Deedie. She was the only grandmother I ever knew as my real grandmother died before my eldest brother was born. Deedie was everything you could ever want in a grandma, a gorgeous Scottish accent, the kindest nature and always warm shortbread ready with a cuppa tea.

Little in stature but large in spirit. She met my Grandfather when he was in Britian. He had lost his wife while away and having met Deedie when he was billeted with her, he asked her if she would consider marrying him and helping him to raise 7 children. Amazingly she agreed and travelled all the way to Australia to a new and unknown life. But she need not have worried as she was such a lovely lady everyone feel in love with her and she became a very loved part of our family.

I hope you like it.
Regards
Angela

Hi all,

Today the weather is wet and dreary here in Adelaide, I don't think it has really stopped raining all day. This being the case I haven't set foot outside so it was a good day to sort my scrap room. I FINALLY got to the end of cleaning up my scrap room after working on it for a week or so on and off.....hooray!

It has been lovely getting to the point where one can actually create again.

It was especially nice to know that everything was in its new place and it was so easy to find things. My new shelving is working a treat and my boxes are easier to get at so I am a happy camper.

After all that hard word this afternoon I treated myself to some playing time to make my page for the color room palette #170 .

It was a tricky one to get the balance right and I'm not sure I managed it even now. I think I would like to have seen a little more grey however it was getting way too busy so I thought enough was enough. We also had to use a toothbrush as a part of the design, I splattered some grey paint around the background using a toothbrush over the top of a yellow prima colour spray.

I used an old Christmas photo from our dear Aida's first Christmas as she was wearing red and it seem to suit. An unusual colour combination for Christmas but I hope you like it.

Stay warm,
Angela

Working on my bloom girl

Hi there friends,

I have been working on some drawing workshops with Jamie Severtson Dougherty
She has given those participating in her workshops some inspiration and techniques to draw faces. I can't say that I am very good but I am making some progress. At least they look like faces now. Here are some of my attempts.

One will keep trying and in the end I hope I can use my new skill in making some mixed media pages, cards or journal pages that I am happy with. I will keep you posted.

Happy drawing !

Smile today

Good evening,

Today I finished a page that makes me smile. A little photo of my darling grand daughter.
A cheeky monkey that always makes my day.

I started by selecting the chipboard saying and found some happy papers that I thought would match the sentiment.

I then used the photo frames with smile today as another way to bring out the happiness.

I selected the photos last this time but these two pics certainly go well with the page.

I bit of spraying, glitter, rubons and metal paint for the spinner and I was happy.
Hope you like it.

Keep smiling!

Hi all,

I finished a new page today with a photo taken at my brothers wedding. Its nice every now and then to get all dolled up and I must say my hubby is still a good looking man particularly in a suit

I used some of the new prima spray to set the colour on the page and then used some of my laces and flowers to add embellishments, and a new punch to add interest to the edge of the page.

I hope you like it.

Blessings to all,
Angela
