Did you ever imagine layout tutorial
Hello there and thank you for dropping by.
Today I am sharing how I put together my layout 'Did you ever imagine' which I have created for the CSI #161 case file challenge.
It is one of those layouts that I saw in my head but in reality when I came to put it together it took on a life of its own. I am very happy with the result though and in fact it ending up meeting more of the criterion than my original ideal would have.
I started by making myself some book page flowers. I love these flat flowers that are all the rage at the moment. You can make them in any colour and use any paper patterned book pages or sheet music and what ever you use they look great. They would be so versatile too. I was looking at packets of them in one of my favourite scrap shops today and quite honestly when they are so easy you can save money by making them yourself.
Mind you I had to make a few before they started to be consistent in look but after a while they started to look how I wanted them. I would suggest that if you haven't made them before to make a
few out of scrap paper before you use your final papers to allow for all the
funny looking, too tall, too small, too wonky ones that may appear.
Step 1.
Using book paper use distress stain to colour the pages to your desired colour and allow to dry.
Trace and cut out a circle and then cut this circle into a spiral. The bigger the circle the bigger the flower. The wider the 'snake' of the spiral the taller the flower. Leave a small round piece in the middle of the spiral. I found the more consistent the width of the spiral the neater the flower appeared.
Starting at the outside edge begin to roll the spiral snake keeping it tight. When fully rolled gently loosen your grip on the roll and let in unravel until its the desired size. Glue the rolled paper onto the last round piece at the end of the snake using a glue gun or quick drying glue.
Step 2.
Use distress stains to cover a white piece of cardstock. Start at the top with the lightest colour and then gradually darken the colours down the page blending each colour as you go using a paint brush and then dry off completely. I used scattered straw, wild honey, dried marigold and fired brick
Step 3.
Using fired brick distress ink I used a background stencil to add random bits of stencilled pattern. I used a triangular stencil because it was one of the criterion but any smaller type stencil would be fine.
Step 4.
Cut two circles out of patterned paper to match your colour scheme. One circle is 19cm the other 14cm. Cut your self a doilie type diecut out of darker solid colour paper and cut in half. Attach with double sided tape.
Step 5.
Using a sewing machine stitch around the outer edge of the circles. Start and finish where the circles overlap as the photo will hide the join. If you don't have a sewing machine you can add faux stitching using a fine marker.
Step 6.
Foam mount your photo onto a decorative photo mat cut out of the same colour as the doily paper. and the foam mount both onto the page covering the overlapping circles.
Step 7.
Using black or a coordinating colour ink up and stamp a fine background script type stamp at random spots around the photo.
Step 9.
Glue book page flowers in small groups of two and three around your page. Tie and attach a bow on the bottom left hand corner of your photo. Using a coordinating colour drop some ink from one the re-inkers at random spots.
Step 10.
Attach your title in the top right hand corner of your page using your chosen lettering. Journal around the edge of the circles using a fine black marker.
All that is left now is to display it. I would love to see a photo of your take on
this design so drop me a line!
Thank you for checking out my tutorial and don't forget to leave me some love in the comment section. Hope to see you again soon (p.s. I always love to welcome new followers)
Wishing you a wonderful day,

Dream Big Card tutorial.
Well, I am excited! I have finally jumped through all the hoops and managed to publish my first video card making tutorial. I don't have a filming studio but managed to set myself up using my tripod and it will do for now as I learn the process of video production. I must say the uploading and online editing on You Tube was SO painful so if anyone has any tips on doing this sort of thing I would love to hear them!
Meanwhile, the card I made today is another from the All That Glitters paper collection from Kaisercraft.
I love all the layers and textures and I hope it inspires you in someway with your scrapbooking or card making. So with no further ado... please enjoy.
Happy dance,
Angela

Hello Card Tutorial
Hello to all,
Today I am presenting a tutorial on how to create a simple card using some beautiful Kaisercraft papers, stamps and Kaiserfusion markers.
This generic card would be suitable to send a note, invitation or get well/birthday greetings. The beautiful apricot and green colours are one of my favourite colour combinations. So feminie and pretty.
Firstly, gather your materials together. Today we are using the Kaisercraft, 'Something Blue' paper collection, garden party stamps from the Lil'Primrose collection and Kaiserfusion markers in shades
of green, apricot, yellow and skin tone.
Take a sheet of backing cardboard, I used white, but light green or an apricot colour would also be suitable. Cut into a rectangle 8 and a 1/2 inches by 5 and 5/8ths. Fold in half at 4 and a 1/4 inches and use a bone folder to crease the fold.
Take the 'Announcement' sheet from the 'Something Blue' collection and cut a rectangle 4 by 5 and a half inches Use Tim Holtz distress ink in worn lipstick and ink lightly around the edge.
Take the girl from the garden party set of Lil'Primrose stamps, lay her across the edge of the rose border slightly to the left and lightly mark each side of the stamp in pencil.
Using a scalpel blade to cut along the boarder edge between the two marks.
Using a scrap of leftover white card. stamp the girl and flower stamps for the lil'Primrose garden party stamp set. using Memento Black ink. Using the smooth side of the card will make for a better impression. If your stamps are brand new, lightly filing the tops with an emery board will help them to absorb ink and print cleanly.
Using a skin colour Kaiser fusion marker colour the girls face. Use the lightest colour first and then using a slightly darker shade colour under the hat and on the base of the arms. use the lighter colour to blend the two colours. Using the apricot/pink colour of your choice colour the girls dress and hat. Again colour the lightest colour first and then use a darker shade to colour where shadows would fall. Blend together. Using greens colour the apron and hat using the same technique. Fussy cut her out.
Colour the flowers the same way and fussy cut. Trim the bottom of the girl so that she can slip into the slit that you cut early on the flower border.
Secure with glue or tape. Position flowers so that she is holding one and the others are in the garden. Mount with foam tape to give them a bit of dimension. Add some beads to the middle of each flower. I used art ingredients glass beads in zinc but any sort of bling that your feel suits would work.
Select a matching ribbon and tie just below the mounted flowers. Make a bow on the left hand side.
Select a sentiment and stamp in the top right hand corner.
Mount this panel onto the front of your backing card and you are done!

Not sure if the other comment went through, so will try again ..... great card and this was very easy to follow ... not that I made it up as I don't have the stamp but will keep it in mind as I have a similar one that might work ... loved the way you cut and popped the girl into the garden .... the photos are a good size for me to follow and the instructions great.
Thanks for the feedback Janita. Much appreciated.
Great tutorial and easy to follow. It's always nice when someone shares their crafting process/design ideas. Lou x
Thank you Lou, I really appreciate you taking the time to view and comment
After being on the receiving end of your beautiful cards over the past few years it's fascinating to see the process from start to finish. What talent you have! Bm xx
