Challenge entries

White with 1 - April 2015

Entry by Angela Bolton

We lost our dear friend Barney this week so I have dedicated this challenge entry
to this beautiful fellow. Sadly missed but never forgotten.
Barney was a rescue dog through SA Dog Rescue we didn't really know who old he was but our best guess was between 8 and 10 so it was a bit of a shock when he got so sick so quickly.

I started by ripping a section out of my white cardstock. I wanted to represent our breaking hearts. Then I backed that with corrugated cardboard. I knew I wanted lots and lots of rough texture on this page because our Barney was a course haired dog, known by some as scruffy bum!

I used antique linen and brushed corduroy distress ink to darken up the edges and Prima spray to add some droplets onto my white. I also stamped a small leaf stamp across the page in the same two distress colours. I then mounted this onto another sand coloured card.

I mounted Barneys photo onto corkboard and dry brushed the edges with white gesso. I diecut a fancy frame and cut this up to give it a lace edge in white. I then took a piece of white card stock and wrapped it in hessian ribbon and added sand lace to each end. This then became a base for the photo.

I used a range of sand coloured paper pieces and a tag poking out from under the photo mat to create some interest. I also used some hessian, jute string wrapped around a strip of corrugated card and white cardstock punched with an edge punch. I die cut some flourishes and hearts from white glitter cardstock and then used a range of flowers, metal cogs and my glitter embellishments to decorate around the photo.

I stamped my sentiment 'Memories of you' and mounted it on corkboard. And used Amy Tangerine Thickers in a sand colour to add the title at the top. I also added highlights with a white paint pen.

I was pleased with how it turned out. A really pretty page but with Barneys beautiful face
still being the hero of the piece. xoxoxoxo

Hope you like it.
Cheers Angela

FABULOUS layout of Barney! Nice to know that his last days were with people who showed him lots of love. For you it was too short of a time, but for Barney, it was a lifetime! This layout is very inspirational and creative! Lisa ^..^
