A hot Christmas!!

Hello my friends,

In Adelaide, where I live, we are sweltering through a week of over 36 degrees. Today is forecast at 42 and tomorrow 43. I have been watching lovely Christmassy snow videos to keep cool! Well it goes without saying that there is not much you can do in this weather. You are trapped inside and any crafting is the perfect way to pass some time.

I made my Mum a mini Christmas tree for her present this yea. She is in a nursing home so thought a little one might brighten her room and not take up too much room. I was inspired by several ladies on facebook (sorry ladies can't remember who you are) who made some so thought I would give it a go. I loved hers so much I made one for myself.

I also made another cookie cutter ornament as my daughter saw the one I made and asked me to make another for a friend of hers. Hope you like them and if you are in my part of the world you stay cool!

Until next time, stay safe. xoxox

Here comes Christmas!

Oh my goodness where did that year go!

I was happily plodding along and then it was like a time warp and the last 6 months has just flown by. I have been crafting in various ways but not had time to blog at all!

In the lead up to Christmas I worked at making items for a local trading table. Here are just a couple of my creations.

Well, the last of work is over and now I can relax a little in the lead up to Christmas between the parties and family get togethers.

I have finished my Christmas cards and just need to post them (dh has to help me this weekend, I told him I make them he has to help me address them all!) Shopping is almost done, I have decorated the house a little and plans for Christmas feasts are underway.

So, with just the last minute Christmas wrapping and cooking I am feeling in control (I think!)
Here is a selection of my Christmas cards for 2015.

Anyway, one of the loveliest blessing s this year is the birth of a dear friends little boy. I thought I would make a little 1st Christmas ornament to celebrate the event. I was really hoppy with how it worked out. I used a gingerbread cookie cutter as my base and cover it with red and white cardstock and glitter papers. Added plenty of bling and the traditional poinsettias' and I was really happy with the result.

I am now eyeing off my other tin cookie cutters and thinking I might make myself a Christmas collection! The grandkids would love to help nanna I am sure.

Until next time, enjoy your Christmas preparations and stay safe!

Blessings to all,

Angela

Busy busy

Sunday June 28th 2015

Hi all,
I have been so busy with different things that I haven't posted for a while. Firstly I got really ill and was in hospital with a long convalescence and then there was lots of catching up on life that |I had to do. I am working with some lovely ladies at our local aged care facility and have gone from being a helper for an hour or so to suddenly running the whole show.

It is certainly a challenge but I am enjoying it. I had only signed up for once a fortnight but now am doing it every week and boy do the weeks fly past quickly. no sooner have a finished organising one activity I have to be working on the next. Designing the craft and scrounging for materials as the budget is as good as nothing!!

If it wasn't for the beautiful women who come to my sessions and seem to be loving it I think I would be tearing my hair out. But listening to them chatter and get so much out of the social interaction as well as the crafts warms my heart and helps me to stay on track. I thought I would share some of the items they have made.

Butterfly cushion covers they worked on. They all ended up so pretty.

The other thing that has keep me busy for a number of weeks is some wedding invitations for friends. I will share once they have gone out. I was really happy with them in the end although we had some challenges along the way!! When my computer died half way through the process I was more than a little frazzled.

With such a big project on the go I really didn't get to do much more scrapping. I did make some little decorative tiles and a quick scrap page and at other times have been working on my handwriting class homework.  Until next time, stay warm!!

Happy Mothers Day.

Happy Mothers Day!

I hope all the wonderful Mums out there had a great Mothers Day on Sunday. We spent a lovely afternoon catching up with family and of course our beautiful Mum. It is always something special when you get to spend time with 4 generations. Leads to wonderful memories.

I thought I would share the bag in a box projects I put together as little Mothers Day gifts to add to my stash to spoil the Mums in my life. Such an easy and effective little idea I found on You Tube after lots of ladies have been making their own on facebook. I think originally made by Caroline Hallett I watched her tutorial here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSrnexCAVFc&feature=youtu.be and then it was easy. Hope you like it.

I can now also share the album I made for a dear friend after her wedding. I had an acrylic album that I have been wanting to use for ages and this just seemed to be the perfect opportunity.
Please excuse some of the photos because there is some glare from the acrylic. I would love to hear what you think. Please feel free to leave a comment at the bottom of the page.

Until next time.
Cheers Angela xx

#BrotherInspires

April 25th -ANZAC day 2015

Brother Banner

Hi all,
Today is ANZAC day and I have spent lots of time watching the dawn services. They are very moving on this the 100th year since that terrible battle. One can not imagine the horror those men saw and I can't comprehend how many paid the ultimate sacrifice. May the Rest in Peace and may we continue to honour their bravery each and every year.

I have also been busy over the last few days working on a few projects, The first is a banner as my entry into the #BrotherInspires competition.

It was fun to do mixing fabric and scrapbooking/multimedia techniques.

I have included a number of photos so that you can see each banner piece up close. Which one do you like the best. I still can't decide!

The second project has been a wedding album for a friend of mine. Her wedding photos have not gone online yet so I will just have to tease you with a sneak peek. I used an acrylic album something I have been wanting to do for so long now. I was really happy with ait and will reveal more photos as soon as I have delivered it to her.

Thanks for looking, until next time.

Regards,
Angela

Happy Layout

Hello there,

Today I wanted to share a couple of creations I have made. Firstly a little layout called Happy that I put together for the April sketch challenge #25 at Scrap Our Stash. This sketch was done by Laura Whitaker.

I don't often do a sketch to do a layout, I am not sure why. Somehow I thought it was a little bit like cheating but in fact it is interesting how different everybody's take on the same sketch seems to end up. I love the mood board that went with this sketch and I think that is why it attracted me.

I am interested in putting textures on my page and using fabric to do it. I find that is where my personal style is leading me so I visualized this page before I even had a picture in mind. I got started using these delicious colours and it was easy to find a cute photo of my grand daughter (I have just one or two lying around!) to add when it was nearly done.

I hope you like it. Please leave me some love in the comment section below if you have any thoughts or if you want any information about how I created it.

*****Don't forget to scroll down to see my new cards using the bokeh technique. Don't miss out on the opportunity to win a free card!

I also spent a bit of time playing with the bokeh technique. It is very effective although I didn't have all the appropriate tools so another trip to my favourite craft store Paper Flourish will have to be on the cards next week so I can make some more. I will pop a tutorial on my blog next week.

This technique is meant to reflect a camera out of focus and can be done in any number of colours. I love the pink one which I mounted on pink felt (as I didn't have any pink cardstock the right colour - another reason for a trip to the scrapbook store!)

So now, here's the go. I will be giving away this beautiful pink card to one of my followers who leaves a comment by the end of the month. I will select a follower who leaves a comment about todays post. It will be a random selection so follow and comment to be in the draw.

Thanks for taking the time to view,

Until next time
