All that Glitters Card Collection

Hello again,

 

 

I have been working very hard on my card making over the last few days. I am enjoying making sets of cards using the Kaisercraft collections which are just gorgeous. I find it interesting the creative process and what we are thinking as we put papers and embellishments together.

 

This set use the all the glitters collection which have a touch of gold in them which is all the rage this season. With this card I wanted to use the butterflies from the matching collectibles set so I felt I wanted to have some flowers for them to be flying near. I loved the sentiment and wanted to use a double frame to make it pop and tie in with the green butterflies

 

 

I also made one into a shaker card using diamantes and sequins. I initially made this card with the egg shape shaker flat to the cream card. After a couple of days I couldn't help myself I had t o take it apart and start again. I ended up using inked gauze as a bottom layer and foam mounting the egg. I wanted the egg shape to stand out so it looked more Easter-ish (if that's a word!!)

 

 

Another gorgeous collection is the BeYOUtiful collection which I have used to make the following cards. I adore the yellow base paper and I wanted to use the darker yellow for the cage but needed to break it up so it would stand ut so I used the luscious striped page. I used the butterflies from the strip that you cut off. I though they were so cute. I always save my strips (I keep them all in a gladwrap box and they often come in handy for an extra touch on a card or scrap page. IIN fact I made a card using strips to make the base paper, you can see it on my pinterest page.   

 

 

With this card my starting point was wanting to do a tear in the base paper and bring in some texture using a real doily under the tear. I wanted to have a distress/shabby chic feel. Again the beautiful flowers on the page just had to be used and after fussy cutting them out I added a butterfly, ribbon, bling and sentiment .

 

These final cards used the Kaleidoscope collection. The first card went through a number of transformations. It nearly went in the bin but as I added more layers of media I finally started to see it come together and I enjoy the final result. Eventually my  Ówl love you always' card ended up being really 'çute/hoot'.

 

I love the layering in this card, I used the Kaisercard dress form and dressed it up using some of the Julie Nutting stamps. I used a spellbinders die to make what I hope looked a little like a mirror in the background.

Curiosity Collection Cards

I am happy to report I have final been able to get my video tutorial up and working. Don't forget to check out the techniques and tutorial page to view it and I would LOVE to hear from you in the comment section.



Also this morning I thought I would share a card collection I have made with the beautiful Kaisercraft Curiosity Collection' papers. I loved this set of papers the first time I saw them, In fact I think I bought them twice!!

I had a card making night last night and whipped up a few more cards for my box. I tend to work this way now, I take the time to make a few cards at a time. I don't necessarily create a certain card but keep them generic or don't put a sentiment on them. So if you suddenly hear someone has fallen ill, or has some good news to share and you want to send a card (but don't have time to get out all you gear to make one) you have plenty hand made cards ready choose from.

My friends and family all know I make my own cards and I don't have the option of buying a card (unless I want to offend someone!) so by being one step ahead it takes away any stress.
It is also a great way to use up scraps and leftovers. As I work on my scrapbook pages and have bits left I sort them into a set of drawers I have that are colour coded. That way I can use bits to add to my cards rather than cut up whole new sheets.

 

 

These cards were all made with simple layering. By that I mean I selected all my elements and just placed them down one on top of the other in a pleasing arrangement. I didn't use much foam tape just a little under the Ádore, Cherish, Hope sentiment and the bird plaque.

 



 

I wanted to keep the designs really simple so these beautiful papers could be the hero's on the card. They colours are just so beautiful they really sing. I didn't want too much on the card to distract from that.

As you can see I left the bird plaque blank, that way depending on the occasion I end up presenting it for I can just add an appropriate sentiment and its done.

Gorgeous Marbled Easter Eggs

 

 

 Hello again all,

 

                          I was a little bit naughty today. I have been so busy working towards a special project that I can as yet not disclose but happened to see this tutorial on the blog of Tim Holtz. I loved the outcome and it seemed so simple and easy that when I found the eggs I needed in a cheap shop today I couldn't contain myself. I went straight home and got started. I had been talking to myself and saying I can do it over the Easter long weekend because I would have met all my deadlines by then but......well a girl has to be naughty sometimes!

 

 

                           So here is what I created. These stunning looking marbled eggs. Made using the Adirondack alcohol inks, just blending, swooping and dabbing and hey presto these gorgeous little darlings are born. Don't you just love them. I am definitely going to make some more as the colour combinations are endless but I only had so much time and I will get back to it over the long weekend as originally planned. Keeping in the Easter theme, here is a little Easter canvas I put together a few days ago. Very simple but it sits on my hall table to greet visitors and remind them that Easter is just around the corner.

Lost pages.

Hello again,

As I am sorting out lots of photos and organising all my files I found another lost page that I never got to post on the blog.
This is another one of our Immy. I wonder why it is so easy to do pages for grandkids!

Here is another one I love of Aida making one of her funny faces. Trying to work out how to climb up it was quite the conundrum!

Anyway, must fly and finishing tidying up my scrap room. I'm on a roll!
