Good news and bad news

Hello my friends,

Sorry it's been a while since I blogged but I have had a lot on my plate (more about that later) I have been working on a mixed media piece and they always take so long. I like to let them dry naturally between coats of mediums and there are lots of different products on this page.

It started one night when it was so cold I didn't want to go out into my studio so I did some drawing while watching tv. I have done a couple of the bloom girl workshops with the uber talented Jamie Severtson Dougherty so thought I would get in a little practise. My girl came out halfway decent so I decided to put in the effort and paint her. I used a technique outline by Dina Wakely which I saw online but to be honest it didn't work for me. I ended up painting her with about 30 layers of paints of all types, pencils and inks until I felt she was vaguely pretty.

The background was a mix of paints, stencilling, foiling and textures of all sorts. It didn't end up like my original vision but then again most things I start don't! Not sure what I will do with her as she is just in my sketch journal, (I really should have done her on a canvas) but I just like looking at her so she might go up on my message board for a while.

That's the good news our bad news is we lost our beloved dog Barney this week. It is the second dog we have lost in 6 months so it made it doubly hard. We miss them so much and life seems strange now without them. I took some beautiful photos of Barney before he left us and so I will be working on some special pages to treasure. I will share them here when I have them complete. I have also been asked to work on some special items for Art Gluttony which makes love collars and accessories for dogs and I will share them too. It is an exciting project to be involved in and I am very proud to be associated with them as they part profits go to caring for dogs.

I will leave you with one of my photos of our sweet Barney
Until next time,
Stay well,

Angela
